Overcoming Shame in Addiction Recovery With ACT
Breaking free from shame in addiction recovery with ACT can transform your journey, but how will you begin to embrace this change?
At our Bethlehem clinic, we know that no two journeys are the same. That’s why we offer personalized therapy for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sleep issues, and more—so you can feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way.
Catherine Cassella is a Licensed Professional Counselor who offers compassionate, evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in Pennsylvania. She specializes in helping clients overcome challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, self-injurious behavior, and major life transitions. With a warm, grounded presence and a collaborative style, Catherine creates a safe space for clients of all ages to express themselves, build emotional resilience, and develop practical tools for long-term success.
Catherine uses a variety of proven therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, carefully tailoring each session to meet her client’s individual goals and emotional needs. Whether she’s working with a young child facing behavioral challenges or an adult struggling with anxiety or trauma, Catherine meets her clients with deep empathy, clear communication, and a strong belief in their potential for change.
She holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Services. Catherine is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).
Her clinical experience includes providing individual, family, and group therapy across a variety of settings, including partial hospitalization and inpatient programs for children and teens. These intensive environments shaped her ability to remain calm, attuned, and solution-focused in her work — even when helping clients navigate serious emotional or behavioral challenges.
Catherine has a particular gift for building strong therapeutic relationships with children, adolescents, and families. She helps young clients improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and build confidence, while also offering parents practical tools and support. With adults, she helps clients clarify values, break through avoidance cycles, and build coping strategies that promote emotional wellness and lasting change.
Catherine’s Philosophy on Therapy:
“I’ve always had a strong sense of compassion and a desire to guide, support, and protect others. One of the most important lessons I learned during my training is that therapy isn’t about fixing everything for someone — it’s about helping them discover the strength to do it themselves. A mentor once described it like this: Imagine someone is in a dark room, trying to find the light switch. If the therapist walks in and flips it on for them, they haven’t learned anything. But if the therapist walks with them, step by step, through the dark — offering reassurance and support along the way — the client eventually finds the switch on their own. That’s empowerment. That’s growth. I believe every person has the capacity to change, and I’m here to help them realize it.”
